NYC Acupuncture Treatment Options
Overview:
Classical acupuncture tailors treatment to each individual; not just their condition, but their constitution, history, and temperament. Treatments are not generic: they focus on the specifics of each person’s physical and mental states and are broken down into The 74 Channels of Acupuncture.
The channels/treatments are chosen based on the type of condition, the level of severity, and the duration of a condition. Healing takes time and commitment - conditions that are congenital, chronic, or with a long duration naturally require a longer course of treatment than recent, acute conditions. The number and frequency of treatment depends on the individual. Treatment course can also be affected by lifestyle choices or prior medical therapies that may have interfered with the body’s ability to heal and function optimally.
The 74 Channels of Acupuncture – Types of Treatment:
The 12 Sinew Channels: Treat conditions of the muscles (sprain, strain, injury, neuropathy, numbness, weakness, loss of function), skin (eczema, psoriasis, rashes, herpes, etc.), sense organs (ear, nose and throat), allergies (environmental and food) and digestive function.
Acupuncture and Plantar Fasciitis
The 15 Luo Channels: Treat blood chemistry (which affects hormonal function), circulatory issues (angina, irregular heartbeat, palpitations, blood pressure, etc.), sleep (insomnia, fatigue), the emotions (depression, anxiety, rage, etc.), and mental function (blood chemistry affects brain chemistry).
The 12 Primary Channels: Treat conditions affecting the internal organs, as well as general physiological function (respiration, digestion, elimination, energy levels, gynecological, urogenital function etc.).
The 12 Divergent Channels: Treat autoimmune and chronic degenerative conditions (arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, colitis, crohn’s disease, asthma, disc degeneration, etc.), issues relating to immune function, organ loss of function, chronic unconscious mental-emotional states, personality changes/dysfunctions, and addiction.
Acupuncture and Rheumatoid Arthritis
Acupuncture and Crohn’s Disease
Acupuncture and Ulcerative Colitis
Acupuncture and Multiple Sclerosis
The 8 Extraordinary Channels: Treat congenital conditions that a person is born with, or that were inherited: conditions that run in the family. They also treat the so-called “curious organs”: the brain, prostate, uterus, blood vessels, bones, bone marrow, genitals, as well as endocrine function (menopause, hormonal imbalances).
Rates:
My rates are commensurate with the acupuncture field. I do not accept insurance, but I am happy to provide an invoice upon request (with necessary codes) so patients may submit it to their insurance company. Many of my patients have been successful in receiving reimbursement for treatment.
